Derek Simon, Lawyer, Burchells LLP

Derek’s practice is focused in the areas of Commercial and Property transactions, and Aboriginal and Environmental Law. His clients include individuals, businesses, Aboriginal governments, and not-for-profit organizations.
 
Derek has been involved in and served on the board of numerous community organizations, including Fusion Halifax, The Children’s Clean Air Network, The Nova Scotia Environmental Network, and is currently President of the Nova Scotia chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society.
 
Derek is a passionate advocate for such topics as Aboriginal taxation, community economic development, and renewable energy.
 
Derek and his wife, Cheryl Simon, a Mi’kmaq lawyer and artist, live in Dartmouth. They are extremely proud to be waving the Salvation Army banner this holiday season, and Derek is looking to lay down the gavel on the competition of the Stocking Stuffers election!
