Christine is a proud Haligonian and the co-owner of The Wooden Monkey, a Halifax restaurant that serves local and organic products with a philosophy of supporting the community and the environment. Christine is also the Operations Manager of a rapidly growing company, Inspired Landscaping & Renovations.
Christine has 23 years of restaurant industry experience combined with a background in management, marketing and accounting. She has traveled throughout Canada, honing her business management skills in properties from casual to fine dining.
Lil Macpherson has always had a passion for the environment. After 25 years in the food service industry, Lil decided to turn a new leaf and open Halifax’s most environmentally conscious restaurant ever. Lil’s restaurant is her way of expressing her values, serving her community, and making a contribution to a healthier natural environment. Her vision of providing healthy and organic living has come to life and is growing in popularity by leaps and bounds.
Lil is a trained Al Gore Presenter for The Climate Change Project for An Inconvenient Truth, a passionate member of the board for The Children’s Clean Air Network and a public speaker on organic sustainable foods systems and our future foods.
The results speak for themselves: The Wooden Monkey was awarded “Best New Business of the Year 2006” by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.
Christine and Lil are known for consistently bringing passion, hope and determination to every project or challenge. As caring mothers, they know all about the challenges of providing good nutrition to families. They are supporting the Salvation Army to help struggling families access good food for the holiday season!
